Despite all the mind-boggling innovation taking place in the world today, you’ve probably heard people complain about a perceived lack of progress by saying something like, “It’s 2018, shouldn’t we have flying cars by now?” While we may not be able to buy flying cars (yet), online dealerships and services have made it possible to conduct most of the car-buying process from the comfort of our homes. And according to recent research, a growing number of consumers are doing just that. How’s that for progress?
An upward trend with no signs of slowing down
For years, the internet has been a helpful tool for doing basic automobile research. You could find specs and features and MSRPs and rebate programs on the web, but anything beyond that required face-to-face negotiations. While some people still enjoy the old-school approach, statistics point to the fact that more and more of us would rather handle the bulk of our car buying activity online.
An international digital consulting firm, Accenture noticed the increase in online options for car shopping and decided to investigate the trends by surveying 10,000 consumers from 8 different countries. With 80% of purchasers using digital methods for preliminary product research and 62% at least beginning the purchase process online, the survey results confirmed what trends suggested: when it comes to car buying, the digital marketplace is changing the game.
Too many choices are a problem…
With a seemingly endless number of websites offering a myriad of details like model information, customer reviews, and dealer promotions, the sheer volume of information can be overwhelming. Whether you call it choice overload, decision fatigue, or analysis paralysis, trying to process too much purchase-related data can lock down your decision-making process and lead to a bad case of buyer’s remorse. So, how do you narrow your search and find the details that matter most to you? By taking advantage of Auto LinkTM, that’s how.
…Auto Link is the solution
As a member of our credit union, you enjoy 24/7 access to Auto Link, our online car buying service.
